Revised draft budget proposal increases spending by 2.19%

District residents would face a 2.19 percent spending increase when they head into the ballot booths on May 20 under the current 2008-09 draft budget proposal

Walking program sprints to early success

The innovative walking program at A.W. Becker Elementary School is a success, Principal Claudia Verga told the Board of Education on Monday.

The RCS girl’s basketball team won the New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) Scholar Athletic Team Award this winter.


District to host surplus equipment sale

The RCS school district will host a surplus equipment sale on March 28, from 8 a.m. until noon at the district warehouse.


Tolerance wall takes shape at RCS

The beginning of RCS’ Tolerance Wall is taking shape with the placement of the first tiles on the wall near the RCS High School cafeteria.

RCS hopeful legislative budget would reverse former Gov.’s proposal

School officials hope state lawmakers realize the pressure school districts are feeling from everyday increases in costs – such as fuel and electricity – and propose a more realistic increase in state aid.

Elementary students to take part in community ballroom dance

Students at A.W. Becker Elementary School will be putting on their dancing shoes later this month – but they won’t be dancing to the likes of Kanye West, 50Cent  or Rob Thomas..
