Tax rates would increase 1.91 to 2.31 percent with RCS budget

Tax rates per $1,000 assessed property value would increase 1.91 to 2.31 percent with passage of RCS’ proposed $41.9 million budget, based on tentative projections.


Upcoming RCS budget presentations include New Baltimore, Bethlehem and Ravena

District representatives will make presentations on the proposed 2008-09 school year budget at several upcoming village and towns meetings.


Students take part in BOCES art show

More than a dozen RCS students are showing their finest artwork during the annual Capital Region BOCES art show.

Increasing juice and other costs are putting the squeeze on cafeteria funds and prompting the RCS Food Services Department to become ingenious when it comes to stretching the food dollar.

Six seniors will receive New York State Scholarships for Excellence based on their academic achievements at RCS.


Summer reading program included in proposed budget

In an effort to combat a summer decline in reading skills, RCS is expecting to launch a summer reading program for students who struggle with the fundamentals of literacy.


Musicians earn honors in state festival

Every middle and high school ensemble at RCS earned honors during the New York State School Music Association Evaluation (NYSSMA) Festival Thursday and Friday in Bethlehem and Voorheesville.


Four from RCS selected for prestigious summer choral program

Two RCS juniors will spend several weeks this summer mired in intense study and rehearsals – and they will do happily.


Budget hearing slated for May 12

The Board of Education will conduct on May 12 a public hearing on the proposed $41.9 million 2008-09 school year budget.


N.H.S. to host car wash

The RCS High School National Honor Society will host a car wash on May 13th at the high school.


More public swim time added to RCS pool schedule

Residents will have an additional hour to swim in the RCS Aquatics Center pool following a schedule change made this week by Aquatics Director Dave Burns.
