District residents will head to the polls on Tuesday to vote on the proposed $41.9 million budget and candidates to fill four seats on the Board of Education.

yields learning opportunity, awards

A pair of eighth grade students earned third place honors and several other RCS Middle School students performed well during the state Science Olympiad competition last month.

Residents of the RCS school district can once again turn to public access television to learn about the $41.9 million proposed 2008-09 school year budget.


PBC to celebrate nature, the habitat

Students, faculty and staff will celebrate nature and the environment during a day-long event on May 29 featuring 18 learning stations that focus on everything from owl pellets to the geometry of spiders and woodland instruments.


Senior earns accolades in national competition

RCS senior Danielle Rudolph was part of a team of if Capital Region BOCES students honored for earning honorable mention in a recent international competition in New York City.


Elementary ballroom dancers to compete

A dozen A.W. Becker Elementary School ballroom dancing students will compete in a dance competition in East Greenbush on Sunday.


Transition night scheduled for
in-coming middle school students

RCS sixth grade faculty will host a transition night on May 28 for parents of students in next year's sixth grade class.


Sherry Slagan, Shop and Save assistant store manager,  presents  Amanda Demitraszek, Pieter B. Coeymans PTO President, in center, a check for $1,000 during a recent meeting. They are joined on the left by a  representative from the Hannaford Helps Schools Program. This is the third year in a row PBC received the award.

A.W.B. to host habitat cleanup day

Students will join faculty and staff, as well as community volunteers, in cleaning up the A.W Becker Elementary School habitat later this month.


Senior Symposium success

Teacher Sue Karmo and interim grades 9/10 principal Frank Barone reported on the success of the first ever senior symposium during a May 5 presentation to the Board of Education.


Board of Education adopts BOCES calendar

The Board of Education recently adopted the 2008-09 regional BOCES calendar, but work is still ongoing on the RCS calendar for next year.


Superintendent search underway

The search for an interim superintendent for the RCS school district is underway and the district's Board of Education is looking to setup interviews with potential candidates as soon as possible, board Vice President Cindi Elliott said.

It's one thing to run hard when a physical education teacher asks you too. It’s entirely different when the WBE Welterweight Boxing Champion is offering the directive with encouragement.
