Three teachers were recognized by the Board of Education on Wednesday for 25 years of service to the school district


PBC Elementary works with college to bolster reading skills for older students who struggle

Approximately 10 fourth grade students in RCS who have difficulty reading will receive extra assistance this school year while at the same time helping college educators hone their understanding of how to help older students who struggle to read.


First day to feature parade, signers and more

Community members, school administrators, faculty, staff and students will take part in the first-ever First Day of School celebration today in Coeymans.


Delayed start for kindergarten students enters third year

While more than 2,200 students filed into the halls of RCS for the first day of classes Thursday, only a handful of them were be kindergarten students. And they were accompanied by their parents.

A leaking, asbestos-lined boiler. Broken front doors. A leaking roof that has forced students to dance around buckets while lining up for lunch. A 1,000-gallon, electric-fired hot water heater that “burns” cash. A falling ceiling. Even an odoriferous and potentially unsanitary leech field.


Faculty look to boost student achievement by examining exams

While students and many teachers were enjoying their summer off, more than 100 RCS faculty members spent at least part of their summer break determining how to improve their work in the classroom.


Nominating petitions available for Oct. 9 election

Petitions are due by Sept. 10
