Back-to-school nights scheduled at A.W.B. and P.B.C

Back-to-school open houses for students at A.W. Becker and Pieter B. Coeymans elementary schools will be conducted on September 16 and 17.


Tax warrant set for 2008-09

The Board of Education on Monday approved the final tax levy and tax warrants for the 2008-09 school year.

Incoming sixth grade students and their parents packed the Middle School on Tuesday to prepare for the start of the upcoming school year.


With new leadership on
board, EXCEL project to be revised

An owner representative will oversee revisions to the RCS district’s EXCEL capital project and help the Board of Education and Interim Superintendent Dr. Michael Johnson determine how to conduct necessary health, safety and energy efficiency work within the funding allotted by voters last year.

The Board of Education on Monday approved revisions to two policies.

as ABC in first-ever reading program

Several students jump numerous reading levels in school-sponsored, volunteer-driven reading program for struggling first and second grade students.

and 6, pay raise targets driver shortage

Despite a pay raise of more than $3 an hour in the past two years, the RCS school district once again finds itself short of bus drivers as the start of a new school year looms ever present.


District appoints interim H.S. principal

While searching for a permanent grades 9/10 principal, the RCS Board of Education appointed Dr. Steven Black to serve in the post on an interim basis to ensure adequate principal coverage for the start of the school year.
