RCS middle school students give back to the elderly through leadership program

On Thursday, April 23rd, middle school students who are members of Family, Community and Career Leaders of American (FCCLA) visited the elderly at Evergreen Commons, a health care facility in North Greenbush. During the month of January and February, high school and middle school FCCLA members worked late after school designing and making fabric gift bags. The gift bags were then filled with a homemade snack mix. The students gave the bags to the residents of Evergreen Commons.

On their bus ride home, middle school students Sarah Krein, Sierra Bastian, Ashley Wilber, Dee Dee Lovelace, Kate Houghtaling and Laura Farrant said the visit was a great opportunity to meet and talk with the residents. According to one student, the residents said the visit "made their day."

The FCCLA chapter has decided to visit Evergreen Commons again in the fall.
