On Tuesday,
May 19, 2009, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central
School District residents approved the
$42,464,808 budget for the 2009-10 school year.
There were 668 "yes" votes and 459 "no" votes.
This budget represents a 1.35 percent increase
in spending over the current year’s budget and
will result in an estimated 1.8 percent tax levy
increase, the lowest in five years.
Interim
Superintendent Dr. Michael Johnson said, "I
believe this is a fair budget that meets the
educational needs of our students and is
sensitive to our taxpayers."
Voters also
approved a proposition to purchase seven new
propane school buses. The vote was 620 to 478.
In
addition, voters approved a proposition to add a
non-voting student member to the RCS board of
education. The vote was 661 to 419.

voters elected three members to the Board of
Education (elected members are in bold type):
