How it all began
In 1996 the
STARS Program began as a research-based, grassroots pilot
program at the A.W. Becker Elementary School. In 1997, the
STARS Program became incorporated as Stars Intergen. Five
senior volunteers joined the STARS program at its inception,
but the program continues to expand with 20 STARS volunteers
currently serving nearly 500 students in both RCS elementary
schools. Volunteer recruitment is ongoing because both
schools are interested in having additional STARS
volunteers.
