STARS
Program
The RCS School
District collaborates with Stars Intergen Corporation, a
not-for-profit that provides quality intergenerational
programming, to enhance the educational experience for RCS
students in grades Pre-K through 8. The unique partnership
draws upon the knowledge and experience of adults aged 60
and older to enrich the lives of RCS students and promote
academic success.
The Seniors Teaching and Reaching Out to Students (STARS)
and Middle School Star Helpers (MSSH) Programs provide
opportunities for:

The RCS school district
to tap into the talents and energies of local seniors to
enhance classroom learning and give teachers extra
assistance in the classroom;

Students to grow
academically and develop self-esteem through the wisdom
and support offered by senior volunteers; and
-
Seniors to make an
invaluable contribution to their community while
maintaining an active lifestyle.
