School bus safety is
a shared practice at RCS. It involves the driver,
students, parents, and school administrators. The
school district considers the school bus an
"extension" of the classroom where the students are
required to conduct themselves according to the
establish standards of classroom behavior, and where
the bus driver has complete responsibility.
Disciplinary problems will be
handled in a progressive manner starting with verbal
warnings. Children who become a serious disciplinary
problem may have their riding privileges suspended.
FOR YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY, STUDENTS
SHOULD:
-
Be on time at the bus
stop--five to 10 minutes before the bus is
scheduled to arrive.
-
Wait at least 15 feet from
where the bus will stop, away from traffic,
where the driver can see people clearly.
-
Wait for the bus to come to a
complete stop before crossing the road,
boarding, or exiting.
-
Cross the road at least 10
feet in front of the bus, and wait until the
driver sees them and they see the driver
signaling them to cross.
-
Properly secure their
seatbelts and remain seated.
-
Keep hands, heads, etc.,
inside the bus, and never throw anything out the
bus window.
-
Not eat food on the bus.
-
Be sure all personal items,
book bags, lunch boxes, water bottles, etc., can
fit on their labs or directly under their seat.
-
Be courteous to one another.
