A.W. Becker fourth-graders shed light on Colonial job market

Becker fourth grade’s study of Colonial times, students in Mrs. Agostinoni’s, Mrs. Baumgras’s, and Ms. Conway’s classes recently held a “Colonial Job Fair.” Fifth graders were invited to visit the fourth grade classrooms to learn about trades early New Yorkers may have performed in colonial times.

The fourth graders each researched a colonial trade, wrote an essay explaining the duties of that trade, tools needed to perform it and what service they provided or product they produced. Students then read their essays to visiting fifth graders and their teachers, dressed as though they lived in colonial New York.
