A.W. Becker welcomes Five Rivers

RCS first grade students listen to Five Rivers representative.
On Monday, February 10, first grade students at A.W. Becker Elementary listen to a representative from Delmar-based Five Rivers Environmental Education Center.

Students from A.W. Becker Elementary welcomed a representative from Delmar-based Five Rivers Environmental Education Center to their classroom. As part of their Project Based Learning curriculum, students were able to learn and participate in how local plant and animal life contribute to our local ecosystem. The presentation featured highlights that included turtles, beavers and local birds, as well as plant life.

The class also allowed for Q&A and the students were able to receive hands-on learning about the special skills the animals and plant life bring to our local wetlands, forests and waterways. We greatly appreciate Five Rivers Environmental Education Center for visiting A.W. Becker Elementary. The presentation was fantastic and the students couldn’t get enough information on local plant and animals. Stay tuned for additional Project Based Learning program news in the district. RCS students are learning and having a great time doing it!
