We hope that you are having a relaxing break with your family. As scheduled, all RCS buildings will be returning to in-person instruction on Monday, January 3, 2022. We also want to acknowledge that Albany County has reported a record number of positive cases today. As we return we want to remind families that we have continued to follow our reopening plans in order to limit the spread of the COVID-19 Virus in school. These include a mix of:
Wearing masks on buses and in all RCS buildings unless eating, drinking, or during a mask break
Distancing while seated in classrooms and cafeterias
Maintaining cohorts of students when appropriate (keeping the same groups of students together)
Regular hand washing and/or hand sanitizing
The proper wearing of masks and maintaining distance from others is our greatest defense against the transmission of the virus. Our expectation upon our return to school is that all persons will properly wear appropriate masks over their nose and mouth and conscientiously maintain social distancing whenever possible (3’ between students, 6’ between students and adults). Sick people should stay home. These preventative strategies have kept our schools open for all but a handful of days this fall. We want to continue to provide quality in-person instruction to our students for as many days as we can for the remainder of this year. This will require a shared effort among students, staff, and our community.
