Last Friday the RCS School District had to switch to complete remote instruction because of the staggering number of positive cases and a shortage of staff. Although we have been able to return this week, the number of positive cases has continued to remain high. We have had nearly 200 positive cases since our return on January 3rd and many hundreds of students and staff have been placed in precautionary isolation/quarantine.
In an attempt to keep as many students in school as possible, and to slow the spread of the virus in high-frequency areas, a select number of classrooms at Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary will be transitioning to remote instruction for the rest of this week. Families will be notified by their student’s teacher if they have students who are affected by this change.
By going remote, all students in these classes will have the same access to virtual instruction with the teacher. The students in these classes can return back to school on January 18th.
