The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School gymnasium was buzzing on May 16 as students from A.W. Becker performed in the third annual AWB Gym Show.
“The show is a great way for our community to celebrate healthy bodies and our physical literacy,” Physical Education Teacher Elyse Loughlin said.
Students performed five dances and then invited parents and community members to volunteer in the A.W. Becker Community Orchestra – a group conducted by Loughlin and fellow PE Teacher Brandon Herwick. Members of the orchestra each chose a piece of PE equipment to wave, throw, tap or stretch when signaled by the conductors, creating a physical expression of the music being played.
