Fifteen-year-old RCS memorial restored

A memorial, built about 15 years ago at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School, recently received much-needed renovations by two community members, Mike Burns and Mark Edmunds. RCS teacher Adam Sutton was the impetus behind the memorial’s creation and renovation.

“I had the memorial constructed at the high school for some students who had passed away and needed to be remembered,” Sutton said.

The memorial was originally designed by Bill Fischer and built through donations of time and money by the student government, LaFarge and the community. Sutton maintained the memorial over the years but realized that weathering and wear on the area of reflection had become too great.

Sutton approached district administrators about the project then collaborated with Burns and Edmunds spending two weeks renovating the memorial.
