No student will be allowed to attend a Physical Education class during a lunch or a study hall unless they are planning to make up a PE class, arrangements will have to be made between the PE teacher and the other teacher who is responsible for that student during the said period. These arrangements need to be made prior to the class make up and not the day of.

Students will only enter and exit through the doors on the back side of the locker rooms (pool hallway).  Every student will be required to go into the locker room, leave their backpack and other belongings in the locker room during their scheduled PE class time.

All PE classes will meet in the pool hallway/pool lobby area after changing and leaving backpacks in the locker room.  When the teacher/s have locked the locker rooms and taken attendance they will head to their teaching space together (weight room, gymnasium, track, turf etc.)

At the end of PE class students will go back to the locker, change, gather belongings and wait in the locker room or hallway in front of the pool until the bell rings.

Mrs. Baker/Mr. Henry /Mr. Schipano/Ms. Shortell

Welcome to high school physical education class. You will be participating in a number of new and traditional PE units in the next 40 weeks.  You will earn one half (.5) credit for each successful year of PE for a total of 2 credits needed for graduation. Within each unit you are required to participate to the best of your ability while following the rules and using strategies to successfully play each activity.

Course Goals

Each activity is designed to improve or maintain the following health related fitness components:

  • Cardiovascular fitness
  • Muscular strength
  • Muscular endurance
  • Body composition
  • Flexibility

Being in class and participating are keys to a healthy lifestyle. Your grade will be affected by your attendance. If you miss a class you need to make it up during the tenth period enrichment time.

Students may make up these classes for full credit for the following acceptable reasons: illness, injury, medical excuse or absence from school. Students who are unprepared for class will receive a zero for the day but have the option of making up the class during 10th period.

Additional missed classes will result in a zero for the day until they are made up.

Each student will have the lowest grade dropped for each quarter.

Proper attire

Each student will be assigned a locker and given a school issued lock. Please lock your belongings. Bring a change of clothes that is comfortable for physical activity and a pair of sneakers. Warmer clothes will be needed in the fall and early spring when we are outside and the weather starts to change. During the swimming unit please bring a school appropriate bathing suit and towel.

We are looking forward to an active and enjoyable school year.
