Mrs. Baker/Mr. Henry /Mr. Schipano/Ms. Shortell
Welcome to high school physical education class. You will be participating in a number of new and traditional PE units in the next 40 weeks. You will earn one half (.5) credit for each successful year of PE for a total of 2 credits needed for graduation. Within each unit you are required to participate to the best of your ability while following the rules and using strategies to successfully play each activity.
Each activity is designed to improve or maintain the following health related fitness components:
- Cardiovascular fitness
- Muscular strength
- Muscular endurance
- Body composition
Being in class and participating are keys to a healthy lifestyle. Your grade will be affected by your attendance. If you miss a class you need to make it up during the tenth period enrichment time.
Students may make up these classes for full credit for the following acceptable reasons: illness, injury, medical excuse or absence from school. Students who are unprepared for class will receive a zero for the day but have the option of making up the class during 10th period.
Additional missed classes will result in a zero for the day until they are made up.
Each student will have the lowest grade dropped for each quarter.
Each student will be assigned a locker and given a school issued lock. Please lock your belongings. Bring a change of clothes that is comfortable for physical activity and a pair of sneakers. Warmer clothes will be needed in the fall and early spring when we are outside and the weather starts to change. During the swimming unit please bring a school appropriate bathing suit and towel.

The grade they receive for the makeup is based on their performance and effort, and the grade is given by the teacher who is supervising. Students are responsible for filling out the PE makeup slip and having it signed by the supervising 10th period teacher in order to receive the credit for the make-up. Students are also responsible for obtaining the content that was missed in their absence.
We are looking forward to an active and enjoyable school year.
