A few fourth grade students from Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary received a tour of the Times Union. Currently, the students are busy at work on their school-based newspaper: Keeping Up with the Bees. As part of the research and preparation for that publication, students were allowed to visit the newspaper and met with Times Union Advertising Director Greg Stapleton.

During the tour, Mr. Stapleton provided them with an inside view of the printing process and how a newspaper is compiled for our region. Numerous topics were discussed, such as: daily reporting, planning, layout and printing of an actual newspaper. The class also received a historical lesson on the importance of newspapers and the critical role they play in our society. The Keeping Up with the Bees newspaper exercise is led by RCS Project Based Learning Coach Kate Thibault.
