On Friday, Oct. 14, Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Superintendent Robert Libby and Senator George Amedore joined together at the varsity football game to announce a $50,000 grant secured by the senator to help equip a new 1,200 square-foot concession stand.
“The RCS Sports Association has been working diligently to raise funds with a goal of creating a fully functioning concession stand,” Libby said. “We want to thank Senator Amedore for securing this grant, as it provides the RCS community a wonderful opportunity to finally realize that goal.”
The stand will be located near the new turf athletics field on the middle and high school campus. Expected to be operational by fall 2017, the stand will be a permanent fixture, complete with new appliances for concessions as well as bathroom facilities for spectators and storage areas for equipment.
Sen. Amedore secured the funding from the State & Municipal grant program, which provides monies to help localities with capital projects and infrastructure improvements.
“Athletics are such an important part of the school experience and I know the entire community is so supportive of our RCS athletes. I was happy to help support this new concession stand that will enhance the experience for all the students, faculty and spectators that come out to cheer on the Indians,” Sen. Amedore said.
