Making maple syrup, middle school students prep for contest

Jennifer Jaskolka’s seventh- and eighth-graders are working with Crosstown Maple Farm to learn about maple syrup production. At the farm the kids experienced the process of collecting sap and learned the steps to boiling the sap into maple syrup. Students will then enter their maple syrup to enter into a state-wide contest for judging against other schools.

The contest is the first of its kind, run by New York Agriculture in the Classroom in partnership with the New York State Maple Foundation.
