New tennis courts taking shape

Blacktop pavement has defined the leveled ground in front of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Middle School. The large rectangular space will become new tennis courts to replace the aging courts behind the high school. Years of use, as well as water runoff under the old tennis courts have caused the surfaces to become worn, cracked and uneven, resulting in the need for regular, costly maintenance.

Limited space on the middle/high school campus has resulted in the installation of our new courts in a very visible location. This area, between the middle school and Route 9W, will provide easy access from the main parking lot and will create another, clearly identifiable improvement to our campus.

Initial capital project plans placed these courts behind the middle school. However, before construction of the courts began, they were relocated to the front of the campus after geographic and environmental impacts were identified.

The new tennis courts are part of phase two plans of the capital project and are schedule to be completed in October, 2017.
