RCS announces new assistant principal

The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District Board of Education appointed Herbert Tedford as Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School assistant principal, effective Sept. 23 at a special meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 18. With over 30 years in education, Mr. Tedford brings administrative experience to the school district going into the 2019-20 school year. Originally from Colonie, N.Y., RCS’s newest administrator will join Principal Lisa Patierne to continue the important work being done for RCS high school students and faculty.

“We are very pleased to have Mr. Tedford join our administration as assistant principal,” said RCS Superintendent Brian Bailey. “He brings leadership, commitment and experience to his new role. We look forward to his contributions as our school district continues to develop quality graduates for today’s workforce.”

Most recently, Tedford was middle school principal for the Ticonderoga Central School District. He has also served in administrative roles in school districts in Colorado and Connecticut. Tedford is a graduate of the University of Southern Colorado where he received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Biology. He earned a master’s degree in Special Education from Adams State University.

“I’m very happy to be back in the Capital District and joining the RCS administration,” said Mr. Tedford. “I’m eager to work with my colleagues to achieve the goals the district has set forth for our students.  I look forward to utilizing my experience and background to help students navigate their academic studies, while being positive members in the community.”
