We’re close to switching the clocks forward for Daylight Saving Time, but RCS students are making the most of their winter sports season. RCS has been busy breaking records and making some noise in sectional competition. Here are some updates on what RCS athletes have been up to in February:
RCS boys’ indoor track: RCS Senior Shane Racey continues his great performances in pole vault competition. At the recent state qualifier meet, Racey completed a pole vault of 16’6”. This marked a Section II record and was recorded as the best vault in New York state this year. It was also recognized as the third-best performance (all-time) for indoor pole vault in state history.
RCS girls’ varsity basketball: For the first time in over 30 years, the girls varsity team has made sectionals and won their first game against Cairo-Durham last weekend by a score of 58-41. In addition, a few of this year’s players have been recognized for the performances in their respective council. More details to come.
RCS girls’ varsity indoor track: Recently, the Girls’ varsity track team placed second out of 13 teams at sectionals. A few members of the team have also qualified for the state qualifying meet. Details on their results to follow.
