Two RCS High School students have been selected to join this year’s New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) 80th annual All-State Conference Dec. 3 – 6 in Rochester, NY. One student was also selected as an alternate.

Madeline Reilly and James Wamsley were chosen to the All-State Mixed Chorus. Both are members of this year’s senior class. Kathryn Rowzee, also a senior, was selected as an alternate on French Horn.

Approximately 900 students from across New York State will participate in hours of rehearsals as this conference which will feature eight All-State ensembles performing in concert over a three day period. Students will be performing in the prestigious Eastman Theatre.

“Students who performed high level NYSSMA solos during last spring’s solo evaluation festival and received high scores were able to be recommended by their teachers.” K-12 music department coordinator Scott Andrews said. “All-State applications are submitted for consideration by each group’s designated chairperson. Students and school districts are notified of the selections during the month of August. It is always an honor to be selected to the All-State conference and our music program has consistently had students chosen to participate for several years.”
