RCS musicians make splash at Fall GCMEA and NYSSMA

RCS hosts GCMEA Fall All County Festival

Fifty-six Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Middle and High School students recently performed as part of the Greene County Music Educators Association (GCMEA) Fall All County Festival.  The festival featured four performing ensembles made up of students from the seven GCMEA schools.  Our very own sixth grade middle school music teacher, Nathaniel Wardlaw, was the guest director of the Elementary Chorus and the RCS Music Department was proud to host this year’s Fall Festival with our newly renovated auditorium, new piano and new risers.

This year’s New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Area All State Festival was held at Saratoga Springs High School, Nov. 17 and 18.  Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk students were selected to various performing ensembles based on high scores earned at last spring’s NYSSMA Solo and Ensemble Festival. They joined the most talented students from our NYSSMA Zone (7), which includes about 50 school districts from the greater capital region.
