Due to a verbal threat made against an RCS school staff member, the district has issued an immediate “lock out” for the middle and high school until further notice. At RCS, we take all threats seriously, whether they contain specific details or not. While following district protocol, we have gone into “lock out” and will be closely monitoring the traffic in and out of our MS/HS buildings until we get an “all clear” from law enforcement. Law enforcement will be assisting on campus throughout this process.
“Lock out” is used when school officials have assessed a threat outside of the school. During a lock out, admittance and dismissal from the building is carefully monitored, often by a school resource officer, law enforcement, school administration, or other designated staff. All outside activities are canceled, but students and staff continue their regular instructional day inside the building.
Please note that district officials will alert parents/caregivers to when the “lock out” is lifted.
