Governor Andrew M. Cuomo originally established a submission deadline of Friday, July 31, 2020 for the reopening plans from all 700 school districts in New York State. The New York State Education Department (SED) released their reopening guidance to schools less than two weeks ago, causing a state-wide scramble to prepare these important plans. With feedback from schools concerning this short timeline, SED has extended the deadline for submission to Friday, August 7. This extension will allow our district to further develop our plans and ensure a balance of compliance with what is best for our RCS students, staff, and families.
The comprehensive finalize plan will be shared with the school district community on our website prior to Friday, August 7. Families will also receive an abbreviated framework of our plan early next week along with a survey asking for information about their students’ return to school in September.
