RCS wrestlers heading to NYS qualifier tournament

The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk wrestling team took first place at the Section 2 Class CC tournament on Saturday, Feb. 2. Fifteen wrestlers collaboratively scored a total of 240 points to claim the title over 10 other teams. Seven RCS wrestlers competed in the finals and four earned the title of champion. The team will now travel to the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls for the New York State qualifier tournament.

  • First place Champions: Dylan Allman, Kaden Gransbury, Bobby Pelletier and Chris Salvio.
  • Second place finalists: Marlon Laing, Ricky Hernandez and Carvis McCutcheon.
  • Third and fourth place finishers: Eric Mattick, Matt 0’Connor, Ernie Greene and Demetreus Todman
  • Fifth place finishers: Marty Brozowski and Jaden Johnson

Last week, RCS wrestlers hosted an inaugural Alumni night in the newly renovated gymnasium at the high school.

“It was an amazing night filled with community members who have wrestled in this program along with their family members,” Coach Justin Schipano said.

Posters of each alumnus adorned the walls as wrestlers from as far back as 1975 took part in the event, along with many recent graduates.
