Senior to perform in NYSSMA Conference All State Festival

high school boy holds tubaEach spring, many Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk music students participate in the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) Solo and Ensemble Festival, some earning top scores for their performances.

Sophomores and juniors may qualify for a Conference All State audition with their solo performance. Students performing an All State solo are judged under a rigorous scoring system making acceptance to the All State Festival extremely difficult.

“This year we are thrilled to announce that senior Cameron Shackleton was chosen to participate in the All State Symphonic Band after earning a 100 on his NYSSMA solo last spring,” RCS music teacher, Michelle McLoughlin said.

Shackleton will join students from across the state, in Rochester from Nov. 30 – Dec. 3, for intensive preparation for concerts in the famed Eastman Theatre.
