A.W. Becker students were thrilled as a special guest made an appearance during a celebration ceremony for the One School, One Book program. Every student in the school has spent the past few weeks reading Charlotte’s Web together at school and at home, as a way to unite as a school community in reading.
To celebrate the feat, students, teachers and staff gathered for a closing assembly with some carnival-style fun, including games, trivia and the special visit from local star and therapy pig named Bacon Bits.
“Bacon Bits tied in perfectly with Charlotte’s Web and the theme of empathy,” Principal, Debra Neubart said.
The book was chosen for its fun, playful and enjoyable reading. With readings from the book each day, students were given the chance to answer trivia questions and partake in various activities meant to raise excitement about reading and join students together through their shared experiences of the book.
