Special guest helps RCE High School drama club prepare to debut Beauty and the Beast

Students taking master class on stage

Broadway actor and singer Steven Ted Beckler held a four-hour master class with cast members of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk production of Beauty and the Beast Feb. 2, to help the students prepare for their Mar. 4-6 performances. Beckler has performed as the Beast and Gaston while serving as understudy for those roles, as well as in the ensemble cast of Beauty and the Beast on Broadway.

Beckler first worked with students who will play the main characters in the musical. He then spent time working with the entire cast, offering suggestions for stage presence, voice projection, blocking, and how to make the characters larger than life onstage.

The RCS drama club production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast will come to life in the high school auditorium Mar. 4 and 5 at 7 p.m., and Mar. 6 at 2 p.m. Admission at the door is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Special pre-sale golden tickets, which reserve front-row seats, can be purchased for $20 each. Contact the high school for more information.
