A month-long marathon of wellness at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk began March 17. The event is an effort led by the RCS Wellness committee to promote health and wellness in the community.
“A traditional marathon is 26.2 miles long,” said Food Services Director, Doug Porter. “We have broken down those miles to make it easy for students, faculty, families and friends to complete a marathon.”
Participants have one month, from March 17 to April 17, to run or walk 21 of the 26.2 marathon miles. The final 5.2 miles will be completed together during the fifth annual Wellness Walk at 1 p.m., April 17, at Joralemon Park in Ravena.
Participants should keep track of their miles on the log sheet. Each walker who submits a log sheet during the Wellness Walk will receive an RCS Marathon wristband.
“We are encouraging the whole community to take part in the marathon,” Porter said. “But even if you don’t run or walk the full distance, you are still welcome to walk with us on April 17. We hope to see everyone there.”
