Pieter B. fourth- and fifth-graders dove right in to an aquatics lesson at the high school pool on May 30. After learning about water safety, students were allowed to enjoy free swim time and had the opportunity to take a deep water test and swim in the deep end, if the test was passed.
“We bring them to expose them to a great community resource,” Pieter B. Physical Education Teacher Diane Conover said. “We encourage them to use the high school pool because it is available to anyone in the community.”
Conover hopes that by exposing students to the pool, it will generate interest in swimming, which she says a lifetime activity that can be enjoyed by anyone.
