Track to close May 1 for construction of new synthetic field

Renovations to the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk field located inside the track on the middle and high school campus will begin in May. Contractor James H. Maloy Inc. will begin work at the site on May 1, closing off public access to the track and field.

Upgrading the field to a synthetic all-season, sand-based field is part of Phase 1A of the capital project approved by voters in January 2015. Also included in the Phase 1A scope is site work at A.W. Becker and Pieter B. Coeymans as well as window replacement and the installation of art and music skylights at each of those elementary schools. The high school will see the renovation of its loading dock while the middle school will undergo asbestos tile abatement and flooring replacement. The bus garage will get a new roof and a bus access road behind the garage will be created.

Contractor bids for the Phase 1A projects were opened on Tuesday, March 15. Contracts were awarded on March 22 to Riverview Construction (general contractor), James H. Maloy Inc. (site contractor) and James A. Edgar Company, Inc. (roof contractor).

Phase 1A construction is expected to last through October 2016.
