New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo announced during his May 1 press briefing that New York state schools will remain closed throughout the remainder of the academic school year. As part of this order, schools will continue to offer instruction, food to students in need, and to facilitate the availability of child care services for essential workers during this extended closure.
Please continue to follow district news and updated program information as it becomes available on our COVID-19 informational page.
- RCS teachers will continue to be in contact with students and families to provide instructional materials and will do so throughout this extended closure in accordance with the district’s plan for continuing instruction. Please see our Work from Home Website for grade-level and class information.
- The district’s food service department will continue to provide meals through a federal grant for any district child under the age of 18. Meals may be picked up between the hours of 7 am and 10 am, on Mondays and Wednesdays, at each of our school buildings. Multiple days worth of meals are distributed on each of these pick-up days. We have been in the planning stages for our various spring awards ceremonies, including high school graduation, for the past few weeks. Information about these events will be shared with families soon. We will continue to keep you updated on any additional information as it becomes available.
During this time, we understand the difficulties that an extended closure is creating for our district parents/caregivers, and more importantly, our students. We will continue to be creative in designing and delivering the key content needed to prepare our students for whatever comes next.
Be well and please reach out if we can assist you.
