2032-24 Board of Education Candidates

On Tuesday, May 16, voters in the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District will elect three board members to fill three vacancies (each a three-year term). 2023-24 RCS Board Profiles

Michael Coyne

Michael Coyne

Mr. Coyne and his wife, Judy, live in Glenmont and currently have four children who are students of the district; Nicholas, Juliana, Austin, and Timothy. He is a retired New York State Law Enforcement Lieutenant/Watch Commander from the state Depart of Correctional Services. He had attended Columbia-Greene Community College, where he studied business administration.

Mr. Coyne previously served as a member of the Cairo-Durham Board of Education and as a member of the Greene County Legislature. His community work includes helping establish Greene County Pop Warner Football as a commissioner.

Michael Robbins

Mr. Robbins and his wife, Erin, live in Ravena and have four children, three of whom are students of the district; Emily, Lauren, and Elizabeth. He is self-employed, owner of a construction company that specializes in structural, new construction, and remodeling.

Mr. Robbins is a Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School graduate and member of the graduating class of 1983. He involves himself by going to and supporting all of his children’s functions.

Jacqueline Kalney

Jacqueline Kalney

Mrs. Kalney and her husband, Russell, reside in Coeymans with their two children who attend RCS, Gabe, and Oliver. A graduate from Coxsackie-Athens, she has a bachelor’s degree in English from Siena College. Ms. Kalney currently works as a Human Resources Specialist 2 for the state Division of Criminal Justice Services. 

She has been a class mom for multiple years. She has supported the little free libraries and coordinated the collection of additional school supplies in the fall of 2021. She has also involved herself with several community organizations, including Little League, Girl Scouts, church groups and Mohawk Hudson Humane Society.

Peter Ross

Peter Ross

Mr. Ross and his wife, Nicole, live in Feura Bush and have three children; Tyler, Leah and Becker. A graduate of Shaker High School, Mr. Ross later earned a master’s degree in education from Walden after obtaining a bachelor’s degree from Oswego State. He now works as a technology education teacher in the Averill Park Central School District.
