COVID-19 Notification Updates

In order to streamline our communication efforts and ensure families and individuals impacted directly by cases affiliated with our school community receive and read important updates, we are making the following changes to the way we communicate about positive COVID-19 cases.

Notice from 01/10/2022: This will be the last week we will be posting COVID-19 numbers from the district. Moving forward, we will direct families to the NYDOH COVID Dashboard.

January 2022

January 14

The RCS School District learned on Friday, January 14 that an individual(s) associated with the following school(s) has tested positive for COVID-19:

3 cases associated with A.W. Becker Elementary. Any potential exposures will be contacted. 

4 cases associated with Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary. Any potential exposures will be contacted. 

3 the case associated with RCS Middle School. Any potential exposures will be contacted. 

3 cases associated with RCS High School. Any potential exposures will be contacted.

The RCS School District learned on Thursday, January 13 that an individual(s) associated with the following school(s) has tested positive for COVID-19:

3 cases associated with A.W. Becker Elementary. Any potential exposures will be contacted. 

4 cases associated with Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary. Any potential exposures will be contacted.

January 10

The RCS School District learned on Monday, January 10 that an individual(s) associated with the following school(s) has tested positive for COVID-19:

12 cases associated with A.W. Becker Elementary. Any potential exposures will be contacted. 

19 cases associated with Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary. Any potential exposures will be contacted. 

10 cases associated with RCS Middle School. Any potential exposures will be contacted. 

9 cases associated with RCS High School. Any potential exposures will be contacted.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot divulge the identity of anyone who has tested positive.

The school district continues to follow all prevention protocols in accordance with guidelines from the New York State Health Department and CDC — this includes a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all school buildings. More health and safety information can be found in the RCS reopening plan.

Contact Tracing Protocols

When the Albany County Public Health Department informs the district that there is a positive case, the district’s COVID Response Team meets to begin gathering all of the information for the health department to begin contact tracing protocols. The most up to date guidance from New York state regarding this process can be found here
