COVID-19 Notification Updates

In order to streamline our communication efforts and ensure families and individuals impacted directly by cases affiliated with our school community receive and read important updates, we are making the following changes to the way we communicate about positive COVID-19 cases.

Beginning March 1, 2021 COVID updates/messages reporting any daily confirmed cases including positives that are discovered through testing will be posted to this webpage daily by 5:00 p.m. (Monday-Friday while school is in session). *Please note if there is no community message on the district website posted for a particular school day then the district did not receive confirmation from Albany County Department of Health (ACDOH) of any positive cases for that day.

April 2021

April 27

The RCS District learned on Tuesday, April 27 that an individual(s) associated with the following school(s) has tested positive for COVID-19: 

1 case associated with A.W. Becker Elementary School; At this time, no one has been deemed a close or proximate contact to that individual.

April 22

The RCS District learned on Thursday, April 22 that an individual(s) associated with the following school(s) has tested positive for COVID-19: 

1 case associated with A.W. Becker Elementary School; At this time, no one has been deemed a close or proximate contact to that individual.

April 21

The RCS District learned on Wednesday, April 21 that an individual(s) associated with the following school(s) has tested positive for COVID-19: 

1 case associated with RCS High School; At this time, no one has been deemed a close or proximate contact to that individual.

April 19

The RCS District learned on Monday, April 19 that an individual(s) associated with the following school(s) has tested positive for COVID-19: 

1 case associated with A.W. Becker Elementary School; Contact tracing has been completed and all affected students/staff have been notified.

1 case associated with Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary School; Contact tracing has been completed and all affected students/staff have been notified.

Please note that The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other privacy laws restrict us from disclosing or confirming any personally identifiable information. We cannot divulge the identity of anyone who has tested positive.

The school district continues to follow all prevention protocols in accordance with guidelines from the New York State Health Department and CDC — this includes a thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all school buildings. More health and safety information can be found in the RCS reopening plan.

Contact Tracing Protocols

When the Albany County Public Health Department informs the district that there is a positive case, the district’s COVID Response Team meets to begin gathering all of the information for the health department to begin contact tracing protocols. The most up to date guidance from New York state regarding this process can be found here
