Friendship Quilt

This spring, students in Ms. Almaviva’s 5th-grade class and Ms. Conti’s 2nd-grade class at A.W. Becker Elementary came together for a creative and meaningful project: the Friendship Quilt.

Each 5th grader was paired with a 2nd-grade buddy, and together, they designed a quilt square that reflected their personalities, interests, and shared creativity. The squares showcased everything from favorite hobbies to unique artistic styles, highlighting the connections formed between students of different ages.

Once all the squares were complete, the 5th graders took the lead on assembling the quilt. They used their math skills to measure and space out the squares, creating a quilt that was both organized, colorful, and full of personality.

The completed quilt is more than just a colorful display of art - it is a symbol of collaboration and friendship. This Friendship Quilt is a lasting memory of the bonds built between two classrooms and the fun that comes from working side by side.
