Dear RCS Parents and Families,
It is with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of purpose that I write to you today as the new Superintendent of the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District. I am truly honored to join this community and to have the opportunity to work alongside you in service to our children.
As I begin my role, I want you to know that I am committed to upholding the district's mission of "providing a safe and supportive learning environment in which all are valued and challenged to become responsible members of a global society." I believe deeply in our vision of creating a district "where passions inspire and individuals succeed," and I look forward to partnering with you to make this vision a reality for every child.
My journey in education has been guided by the belief that all students deserve an exceptional educational experience that prepares them not only academically but also socially and emotionally for the challenges and opportunities of the future. Throughout my career, I have been dedicated to fostering environments where students feel safe, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Over the coming weeks and months, my primary focus will be on listening and learning. I want to understand what makes RCS special, what challenges we face, and what aspirations we hold for our schools and students. To that end, I will be hosting community forums in various locations throughout the district during August. Details about these forums will be shared soon, and I hope you will join me to share your thoughts and perspectives.
Additionally, I invite you to complete a brief online survey that will help me better understand your experiences with our schools and your hopes for the future. Your input is invaluable and will help shape our collective work moving forward. The survey can be accessed through the district website or via the direct link.
As we begin this journey together, I want to assure you of my commitment to open, transparent communication. I believe that strong partnerships between home and school are essential to student success, and I am dedicated to fostering these relationships throughout our district. Our students deserve nothing less than our very best efforts, and I am excited to work alongside our dedicated staff, supportive board, and engaged community to continue building on the strengths of RCS while addressing challenges and pursuing new opportunities for growth and improvement.
My door is always open, and I welcome your thoughts, questions, and ideas. I look forward to meeting many of you at upcoming school and community events, and I am excited about all that we will accomplish together in the years ahead.
With gratitude and optimism,
Craig P. Chandler
