Dear RCS Parents and Families,
Welcome back! As I write this letter, I'm thinking about all the moving parts that make a successful school year—and how much it reminds me of working on a jigsaw puzzle with my own family.
You know that moment when you're putting together a puzzle and suddenly realize that the piece you've been holding actually fits perfectly in a spot you hadn't even noticed? That's exactly how our school community works. Every student brings their own curiosity, talents, and dreams. Every family contributes their own values, support, and involvement. Together, we can build something incredible.
This year, we are building piece by piece.
Your kindergartner's first steps into reading. Your eighth grader's breakthrough in math. Your high schooler's college applications. The parent who volunteers for field day. The grandparent who attends the science fair. The older sibling who models kindness in the hallways. Each moment, each person, each small victory adds to the bigger picture of what makes our schools special.
The district has made some important updates to better serve our community:
Focus on Learning: Our new cell phone policy helps students stay present and connected to their learning and each other during school hours. This will strengthen the classroom experience for everyone.
Better Communication: ParentSquare is now our go-to platform for school updates, events, and important information. No more missed messages—everything you need will be in one place.
Your Direct Line: Have questions or ideas? My door is always open. Schedule a time to chat using my calendar. I'd love to hear your thoughts on how we can improve.
Tell Us What Matters: Please complete this short survey, so I can understand what's working well and what’s not. Your perspective helps shape my decisions.
This year isn't just about academic achievement—though that's certainly important. It's about creating a place where every student feels they belong, where every family feels welcomed, and where we all contribute to something larger than ourselves.
Some days, the puzzle will feel easy to put together. Other days, we might struggle to find where our piece fits. That's okay. That's part of the process. What matters is that we keep building, keep supporting each other, and keep believing in what we can accomplish together.
Thank you for choosing our schools and for being part of our community. Your trust in us drives everything we do.
Here's to discovering all the amazing things we'll build this year.
Piece by piece,
Craig P. Chandler
