During the week of October 6–10, families had the opportunity to join their students in a series of engaging physical education classes, highlighting the importance of physical activity for all ages. With its many benefits, celebrating physical education helps students develop essential motor skills, personal and social skills, and important character values like teamwork, resilience, and respect. Seeing so many families embracing this vision was truly inspiring.

During this special week, families enjoyed playing a variety of fun games alongside their students, showcasing the joy of being physically active together and celebrating the shared experiences that connect generations.

A.W. Becker Elementary School welcomed 237 family members, including 35 Becker parent alumni who returned to the gym where they once played as students. Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary saw 250 family members attend classes throughout the week, and RCS Middle School hosted 83 moms, dads, siblings, grandparents, and 10 RCS Middle School alumni. These returning alumni added something truly special to the week, bringing full-circle moments of connection and community pride.

“It was wonderful to see so many families working together, cheering each other on, and staying active,” said A.W. Becker Physical Education teacher Megan McClave.

Thank you to all the families who took the time to join us for this memorable P.E. experience. Your involvement plays a vital role in promoting a culture of health and wellness within our community.
