Honoring Our Community

Dear RCS Families, Staff, and Community,

Our Board of Education has recently approved a policy that provides guidance for naming facilities and accepting memorials. The Board of Education recognizes the importance of publicly recognizing the outstanding contributions of people associated with our school district and created guidance for our school and community on how to recognize these individuals.

What Is the Guidance?

This policy outlines the forms of recognition that may be considered, including:

  • A Board resolution or proclamation

  • A memento awarded to the individual

  • A plaque affixed to a wall within a school building

  • The dedication of a facility, or part of a facility, to an individual or individuals

  • Any other form of recognition deemed appropriate by the Board of Education

Who May Submit a Nomination?

District employees and/or residents of the district may submit nominations for recognition.

How to Submit a Nomination

Individuals interested in submitting a nomination should complete the Nomination for Dedication or Memorial Form, available from the District Clerk at the District Offices. Proposals must include:

  • A clear justification for the recognition

  • A specific description of the proposed recognition

  • Recommended wording for any inscriptions

  • The materials to be used

  • How the recognition will be funded

This policy reflects our district’s commitment to honoring individuals whose contributions have had a lasting impact on our schools and students. This policy resides on BoardDocs and can be viewed here.

Thank you for your partnership in supporting this initiative. Together, we're fostering an educational environment where we promote community because we believe that it takes shared conviction to accomplish this important work.

In Service,

Craig P. Chandler
