On Tuesday, May 19, 21 students were inducted into the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) at RCS High School.
Membership in NAHS requires students to demonstrate dedication to their artwork, maintain a B average or higher in art courses, and contribute positively to the classroom environment. Students must also complete at least one full credit of high school art and receive a recommendation from a visual arts teacher.
RCS NAHS members meet monthly, or more often when working on projects, to foster connections among students, faculty, and the broader community through the arts. This year, members participated in a variety of creative and collaborative initiatives, many of which involved younger students across the district.
During the ceremony, Vice President Kyra Therrien and Activities Chair Caileigh Burnham reflected on the chapter’s accomplishments throughout the year.
“This year, the National Art Honor Society was involved in several projects,” said Caileigh. “We participated in a variety of events, all planned to help connect us with other students and our community.”
She also highlighted a collaborative project with A.W. Becker Elementary School.
“The goal of this project was to collaborate with the students and turn their school mottos into art,” she said.
Kyra reflected on the Third Annual YAM Summit.
“Since being a part of NAHS, I have watched this annual event grow and evolve,” she said. “The summit is an amazing experience, and we hope to continue it in the future.”
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the National Art Honor Society recognized its graduating seniors by presenting them with the cords they will wear during graduation. Miss Wallace introduced the presentation of the cords before Kyra Therrien and Colleen Teetsel concluded the ceremony with reflections on their time in NAHS.
Congratulations to the National Art Honor Society Class of 2026! We look forward to the inspiring projects members will embark on next year and to seeing how they continue using art to build connections throughout the RCS community.
Congratulations to all of the new members on this wonderful accomplishment!
