On Monday, June 15, A.W. Becker Elementary held a Flag Day Ceremony at the school’s flagpole. The fifth-grade Student Council led the assembly with the Pledge of Allegiance and the singing of America the Beautiful.
As part of the ceremony, the Student Council respectfully retired the school’s flag while explaining the significance of Flag Day and the importance of flying the American flag at the school. The students then raised a new flag in its place.
The event concluded with a heartfelt moment as the Student Council presented the retired flag to Ms. Tutay, an A.W. Becker Elementary math teacher, in honor of her many years of dedicated service to the school community. Ms. Tutay was also recognized alongside fellow district retirees at the Board of Education meeting on June 17, 2026.
