Dear RCS Families and Community,
The Board of Education is considering an update to the district's Visitor Policy (5300.65).
What Is Changing?
The definition of "visitor" is clarified to include coaches, club volunteers, seasonal employees, and contracted third-party staff who are not regular district employees.
Coaches and club volunteers may enter after 9th period without registering as a visitor on days they have a scheduled activity in their official role.
All other visitors, including parents, must be verified through the main office and must wear a visitor badge for the duration of their visit.
Outdoor athletic facilities, including the turf field and track, are closed to visitors during the school day unless approved in advance by the Principal or Athletic Director. Physical education classes and district-authorized instructional activities have exclusive use during this time.
What Happens Next?
This is currently the first read, meaning the Board is reviewing these proposals before taking any action. The full proposed language is available *here. If you have questions or feedback before the Board of Education acts, please contact my office.
In Service,
Craig P. Chandler
RCS Superintendent of Schools
