The halls of RCS are once again filled with energy and excitement as we get ready for the first day of school for PK-12 on Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
Our welcome-back activities began last Thursday, August 27, when incoming sixth-grade students had the opportunity to walk through their schedules with their families, try out their combination locks, meet their teachers, and become more familiar with their new school. Sixth Grade Orientation is an important first step into middle school and helps prepare our students to begin the year with confidence.

On Wednesday, September 2, we welcomed back our faculty and staff, as well as our incoming 9th graders. Our new freshmen class spent time getting to know their schedules and meeting their teachers as they prepared to begin this new chapter in their educational journey. Their orientation ended with a send off lunch grilled by their Principal and Vice Principal.
Our faculty and staff were welcomed back with a breakfast generously sponsored by School House Construction LLC and Day Automation by Stark Tech. We are grateful for their support and for helping us begin the school year on a nutritious and delicious note!
Following breakfast, staff participated in a keynote presentation, “Artificial Intelligence (AI) 101,” presented by Mike Doughty, Assistant Superintendent, Northeast Regional Information Center. The keynote provided an opportunity for our staff to learn about the rapidly evolving world of artificial intelligence and consider its role in education, which is one of our District commitments shared by our Superintendent of Schools. Our Parent Groups Are Gearing Up For Another Incredible Year!
This past week we were also excited to see our RCS District Parent Groups back in action and ready to welcome our staff and families. Their continued partnership, enthusiasm, and support play an important role in creating a strong sense of community throughout our schools.
We are especially proud to share an incredible achievement by the A.W. Becker PTA, which has been named a 2025–2027 National PTA School of Excellence!
This recognition celebrates the successful partnership between families and school and the meaningful work being done to strengthen the school experience for our students and their families.
We are grateful to have partnerships with A.W. Becker PTA, Pieter B. Coeymans PTO, and RCS Middle School PTSO. These groups make a difference and do incredible things for our students. Please consider supporting them this year by attending events, meetings, and engaging with them through their communication platforms. Each group has some amazing things planned for our school community. Watch out for their announcements in the coming weeks!
Here’s to a Great Year Ahead!
Thank you to everyone who helped make our welcome-back activities so special and to our community partners, parent groups, faculty, staff, and families for helping us prepare to start the school year on such a positive note.
Welcome back, RCS! We are looking forward to an incredible 2026–2027 school year!
