On Friday, September 25, A.W. Becker students and staff celebrated the annual Natalie Krause Apple Run! It was a beautiful fall day, and students enjoyed being outside while their families cheered them on.
After the run, students enjoyed a delicious apple generously donated by Indian Ladder Farms. Thank you to our amazing staff and A.W. Becker PTA for helping make this special tradition possible
Although the Apple Run is a relatively short run, it brings our A.W. Becker community together in a wonderful way. It is a time to celebrate one another, recognize our connection to the history of our school, honor those who have made an impact before us, and highlight the importance of making healthy choices.
The Story Behind the Apple Run
The Apple Run began with an idea between A.W. Becker PE teacher Cheryl Morenz and a friend. The original idea was simple: create a fun event where students could run and enjoy an apple together. Over the years, the event has grown into a beloved tradition.
The run is named in memory of Natalie Krause, a former A.W. Becker teaching assistant who had a gift for making everyone feel welcomed and seen. Her joyful spirit continues to be remembered through this event.
The Apple Run is truly a community effort. Our grounds crew, Art Club, PTA, teachers, staff, families, and community partners all contribute their time, creativity, and energy. From the refreshed event banner and colorful decorations to directing students, organizing pickup, and providing apples, so many people help make the day special.
Thank you to Mr. Herwick for putting together the story of the Natalie Krause Apple Run.
