The RCS District remains committed to making changes to improve student safety, while creating operational efficiency and beautification on our school campuses. Our RCS Building and Grounds Committee has been instrumental in continuing this process in and around each of our buildings.

“The district has been very reflective about the ‘first impression’ that people have when they see our schools,” said Dr. Brian Bailey. “We have been completing jobs, both large and small, around all of our buildings over the past three years that have transformed the landscape to a much more welcoming school environment.”

Some of our work completed this year includes the completion of the high school main entrance canopy and new RCS sign, installation of the fence around Pieter B. Coeymans playground, and the completion of the A.W. Becker sign. This summer the front main stairs of the middle school were removed and replaced and the entire front entry received a cleaning and fresh coat of paint. The task this week was to remove the concrete footing from the old drive-in screen at the rear of the middle school campus. The concrete was in disrepair with exposed steel, creating a hazard for students and faculty. The demolition work is being overseen by the RCS Operations and Maintenance department. Removal of this footing will significantly aid in snow removal on the MS/HS campus by providing well-needed snow storage space.
