On Wednesday, March 31, the RCS District Board of Education participated in a budget workshop to review components of the 2021-22 proposed school budget. District officials and board of education members reviewed budget items for the past year and how the focus will change during the 2021-22 school year. The purpose of the workshop was to be transparent with community members while sharing important items that could potentially be voted on at the RCS budget vote on May 18.

RCS Director of Technology Mr. Schrom reported on technology initiatives in the district and how the delivery of those platforms will impact services to the school community. The report centered on technology-based items, such as: PC hardware, detailed review of a five-year Chromebook distribution effort, and how software purchases will be impacted for 2021-22.

In addition, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bailey, Ed.D. provided a detailed overview of programs that the district implemented over the past three school years. He then moved on to discuss programs and outreach to assist students as they prepare for the upcoming 2021-22 school year and beyond.  Additional topics from the Budget Advisory Committee meetings were discussed and the budgetary proposals centered on professional development for staff, funding for off-site learning (field trips), and additional staff to expand career opportunities. This presentation can be found here.  The workshop concluded with a proposal to maintain a 0% tax levy increase for the RCS taxpayers for the 2021-22 school year.
