Letter to Families and Staff about Returning to School; 09-03-2021

Dear Families,

We are eager to welcome back our students next week on the first day of school, Wednesday, September 8. Earlier this week we shared with you our draft of the RCS Tiered Mitigation Reopening Plan. This plan will continue to evolve as our reopening committees and all staff plan for all logistics needed for the smooth operation of our schools. We have created this document that will allow families to easily review the reopening protocols and procedures for the 2021-2022 school year for each building.

Here is a school reopening Q&A document that we have been continuing to develop as we prepare for school. This document will be updated as new questions from students, staff and families arrive

Here is some additional information and reminders for families regarding the start of school - as a reminder, all of this information can be found on our website:

Schedules & Transportation: The district has updated routes and times since cards were mailed home to families.  Please look at these updated routes here. Families can access their student’s schedules and placement on the SchoolTool Parent Portal, transportation routes and the back-to-school letters can be found here.  We are asking families who do not need transportation for the 2021-2022 school year to fill out this form, if you do not fill out this form, we will assume that your child will be riding the bus for the 2021-2022 school year. Please note, students will not be able to use bus notes this year to go to other stops in the district.

Who to Contact and When: We know that many questions or concerns can come up during the school year. We have created our Who to Contact and When Guide to help families get the answers they need quickly.

2021-2022 RCS Calendar: The digital RCS Calendar for the 2021-2022 school year is now available on our website. The hard copies of the RCS Calendar will be hitting homes the week of September 13, 2021.

If you have any questions at all, we urge you to reach out to your student’s main office for clarification at: (518) 756-5200, the extensions for the schools are:

A.W. Becker - Ext. 5000

Pieter B. Coeymans - Ext. 4000

We are excited to start another successful school year with you and your students.

Sincerely - Brian Bailey, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools
